Industry greats shine at the Publican Awards 2012

The best pub companies have been rewarded for their outstanding efforts at the Publican Awards. At a glamorous ceremony at the Grosvenor House hotel in London the industry's finest were hailed among their peers. More than 1,200 guests from across the industry enjoyed the 21st anniversary of the event, which was hosted by comedian and TV presenter Jimmy Carr.

Big winners on the night included: Young's, which triumphed in two categories - Best Managed Pub Company (150+ sites) and Best Accommodation Operator; and G1, which also picked up two awards - Best Managed Pub Company (10-150 sites) and Best New Site for the Corinthian Club in Glasgow.

Guests also honoured the late Jeremy Allen, who was awarded a special Outstanding Industry Contribution Award.

Best Managed Pub Company (10-150 sites): Winner G1 Group Highly Commended: SA Brain & Co
Best Managed Pub Company (150+ sites): Winner Young & Co's Brewery Highly Commended: Spirit Pub Company
Best Tenanted/Leased Pub Company (10-199 sites): Winner Hall & Woodhouse Highly Commended: McMullens
Best Tenanted/Leased Pub Company (200+ sites): Winner Thwaites Highly Commended: Punch Taverns
Outstanding Industry Contribution Award: Winner Jeremy Allen

Rob Willock, editor of the Publican's Morning Advertiser, said: "Congratulations to all our shortlisted, highly commended and winning finalists. This year's awards entries were of a notably high quality - making the judges' decisions particularly difficult. All the judges agreed that if the pub industry as a whole could achieve the high standards and levels of innovation demonstrated by our awards finalists, it would be in much ruder health."
