Chef Owner of the highly acclaimed Freemasons at Wiswell, Steven Smith is a chef going places.

The last few years have seen momentum really build for both Steve and The Freemasons, with this traditional English pub winning the 2017 AA Restaurant of the Year for England, alongside being the top NW pub in the Top 50 Gastropubs, one of the only pubs to make The Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants and for the third year in a row, the No.1 pub in the Good Food Guide, with a seven out of 10 (the first pub in the Guide to receive that ranking).

The key to Steve’s success has been creating menus with flair, finesse and of premium quality but served in a pub, which has kept its relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and has continued to offer a range of menus and events to suit all budgets and tastes, from tasting menus to chippy teas.

As well as winning his third AA rosette, and personally winning the Acorn Award that recognises excellence in the industry under 30, Steven Smith has a team that rises to the occasion as well, with Aga Tyczka winning The Front of House Award at the 2016 Top 50 Gastropubs.
